Audition Material/Choreo

Audition material for Round 1 can be found below, and Round 2 material will be released on May 14th to those advancing. Throughout the process, please perform video audition material exactly as it is taught, as you will be evaluated on it by a panel of judges. Please make sure all video material is clear, concise and easily accessible (i.e Unlisted YouTube/Google Drive).

 

Attire/Hair and Makeup

During the entirety of online auditions, attire is a sports bra or half top of your choice along with

spandex/dance shorts and jazz shoes/turners. No t-shirts or leggings should be worn during

Auditions (with the exception of male dancers). For any Hip Hop material, you may add a pair of black hip hop style pants and your choice of sneakers. Hair and makeup should be “game-day ready” at all times. Hair is worn down on gameday. Hair may be pulled back, out of your face and eyes for your Round 1 technique/skills videos.

 

 

Virtual Audition Timeline

Monday, May 10th (by 5pm EST): First Round Videos/Paperwork DUE

 

Friday, May 14th: Finalists Announced & Invited to Round 2 of Auditions

You will be notified via email if you are moving on to Round 2 and you will receive material

 

Tuesday, May 18th: Round 2 Audition Videos DUE

You will receive directions to submit videos on the 14th

 

May 21-22: Video Interviews

All interviews will be conducted on the Zoom app. Finalist may use cellphone, iPad or desktop computer. Attire is business casual.

 

Tuesday, May 25th: 2021-2022 USF SunDolls Announced

Team will be posted via Social Media (Facebook and Instagram)

 

 

Round 1 Video Requirements

We ask that you stitch your videos into one long video, if possible using iMovie, or other free editing apps. Separate video files will be accepted, but one video is preferred. No slow motion or special effects allowed. Your video should include the following:

 

1. 15 sec introduction (tell us your first and last name, year in school, major)

2. A 1:00 min. max solo in jazz, hip-hop, or contemporary/lyrical. (Must be recorded at time of auditions. This cannot be a video from a dance competition, or from previous virtual auditions). You may use previous choreography, but the video must be taken during the audition window.

3. The following skills (click to see it demonstrated):

• Triple or Quad Pirouette (must be on right): Parallel 

• Leg Hold Turn: Can be front, side, or back & on either side

• A la seconde Turns (must be on right): Minimum 2 eight-count turn combination of your choice

• Jete: Can be performed on either side

• Center/Side Leap: Can be performed on either side

• Calypso (must be on right): Prep with at least one chaine

• Turning Disc: Can be performed on either side

• Switch Variation: May choose any type of switch leap & can be performed on either side (Ex. Switch-Tilt, Switch-Reverse-Jete, Switch-Leap, Switch-Center, Etc.)

• Battement Combo

• Leg Extension(s): Can be performed on either leg (Ex. Penche, Side Extension, Tilt, Back Extension, etc.)

• Hip Hop Skill(s): Must show strength, control, and/or flexibility. (i.e. headstand, kip up, headspring, rubber band, hopping handstand, etc.)

• Side Aerial: Can be on either side.

• Right, Left, Center Splits (hold for 8 seconds)

 

Submission

First Round Submission (including videos and all registration paperwork) is due Monday, May 10th by 5pm EST. You must email the following to Head Coach, Chloe Love at chloelove@usf.edu by the deadline, or you will not be considered.

 

-Completed Audition Application/Packet (click to download)

-Current Headshot/photo

-Audition Waiver (click to download)

-Copy of Current Health Insurance

-Video material link (Unlisted Youtube Video, Google Drive Link that is public to anyone with the link, Drop Box Link, etc.)

 

You may send your audition packet, headshot, copy of insurance and waiver to Coach Chloe as soon as it's completed, and send the video material in a separate email by May 10th at 5pm. You can also send all the above items at once.
